News with a bit of rust, but....It's happening.

___________________

This article is a little long in the tooth, but the new news is that Texas has begun returning its gold now, and is constructing a housing for the gold, along with quantities of silver, and significant amounts of palladium, rhodium, and platinum.   Work is underway to try to develop a new currency, known as the Talent (drawn from the biblical term for the Roman trade coinage) that will have metal, as well as other commodity and abstract value backing.   Recent comments by a fellow who was one of Margaret Thatcher's economic advisors will be placed in the blog to-morrow.   It points to the probability, not possibility, of Texas developing a stand-alone presence in the world of nations.
One of the Hallmarks of this "stand-alone presence" will be this new currency which is a combination of hard metal backing and abstract value added by intellectual and sweat equity.  All very interesting, and also underway....not something from "To-morrow Land".

The article below is drawn from EPOCH TIMES, by Victor Schmid

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill into law on Friday, June 12, that will allow Texas to build a gold and silver bullion depository. In addition, Texas will repatriate $1 billion worth of bullion from New York to the new facility once completed.
ADVERTISING

THIS IS WHAT GOVERNOR ABBOTT HAD TO SAY AT THE SIGNING:
“Today I signed HB 483 to provide a secure facility for the State of Texas, state agencies and Texas citizens to store gold bullion and other precious metals. With the passage of this bill, the Texas Bullion Depository will become the first state-level facility of its kind in the nation, increasing the security and stability of our gold reserves and keeping taxpayer funds from leaving Texas to pay for fees to store gold in facilities outside our state.”
On the surface the bill looks rather innocent, but its implications are far reaching. HB 483, “relating to the establishment and administration of a state bullion depository” to store gold and silver coins, was introduced by state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione.
Capriglione told the Star-Telegram:
“We are not talking Fort Knox. But when I first announced this, I got so many emails and phone calls from people literally all over the world who said they want to store their gold … in a Texas depository. People have this image of Texas as big and powerful … so for a lot of people, this is exactly where they would want to go with their gold.”
But isn’t New York, where most of the world’s gold is stored, also big and powerful? Why does the state of Texas want to go through the trouble of building its own storage facility? There are precisely two important reasons. One involves distrust in the current storage system. The second threatens the paper money system as a whole.

Distrust

“In a lot of cases with gold you may not have clear title to the metal. You may have a counterparty relationship that makes you a creditor. If the counterparty has a problem unrelated to gold, they can default and then you become an unsecured creditor in bankruptcy,” said Keith Weiner, president of the Gold Standard Institute.
This means you get whatever is left after liquidation, often just a fraction of the initial value of your holdings.
“This exact scenario happened with futures broker MF Global. I knew people who had warehouse receipts to gold bars with a specific serial number. But that gold had an encumbered title and they became unsecured creditors in bankruptcy,” said Weiner.
In Texas, two big public pension funds from the University of Texas(UoT) and the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) own gold worth more than $1 billion.
Being uncomfortable with holding purely financial gold in the form of futures and Exchange-traded Funds, University of Texas actually took delivery of the gold bars in 2011 and warehoused it with HSBC Bank in New York.
You are on the board, you are a fiduciary, so that’s an easy one, you go get it.
— Kyle Bass, board member and hedge fund manager
At the time pension fund board member and hedge fund manager Kyle Bass explained: “As a fiduciary, which I am in that position to the extent you own gold and you are going for a long time, and it’s not a trade. … We looked at the COMEX at the time and they had about $80 billion of open interest between futures and futures options. And in the warehouse they had $2.7 billion of deliverables. We are going to own it a long time. You are on the board, you are a fiduciary, so that’s an easy one, you go get it.”
Bass is implying that there is much more financial gold out there than physical, and that it is prudent to actually hold the physical.
Taking the gold to Texas would then also solve the counterparty risk. “In this case it’s going to be a depository, the gold is going to be there, they are not going to be able to lend it out and it won’t serve as collateral for other transactions of the bank.” said Victor Sperandeo of trading firm EAM Partners. “Because if the bank closes, you are screwed.”
“I think that somebody was looking at that, we better have this under our complete control,” said constitutional lawyer and gold expert Edwin Vieira, of the Texas bill. “They don’t want to have the gold in some bank somewhere and in two to five years it turns out not to be there.”

Gold Money System

So far most of the attention has focused on the part of the depository and the big institutions.
However, the bill also includes a provision to prevent seizure, which is important for private parties who want to avoid another 1933 style confiscation of their bullion by Federal authorities.
Section A2116.023 of the bill states: “A purported confiscation, requisition, seizure, or other attempt to control the ownership … is void ab initio and of no force or effect.” Effectively, the state of Texas will protect any gold stored in the depository from the federal government.
The Constitution of the United States obliges the States to not make anything tender in payment of debts apart from gold and silver coin.
And free from the threat of confiscation, private citizens can use gold and silver as money, completely bypassing the paper money system.
“People can legally do that with gold contracts. The difficulty is the implementation. Now Texas has set up a mechanism with the depository. We have accounts in that institution and can easily transfer back and forth certain amounts. So we can run our money system a gold or silver basis if we were so inclined,” said Vieira.
This would not be possible if the gold is stored in a bank because of the risks of bank holidays and bankruptcies. It would also not be possible if the federal government could confiscate gold.
According to Vieira, this anti-seizure provision rests on Article 1, section 10 of the Constitution of the United States, which obliges the States to not make anything tender in payment of debts apart from gold and silver coin.
“If someone from the Department of Justice comes along you are going to see legal and political fireworks. The state is going to say ‘we need to have a mechanism to make gold and silver money. This is pursuant to the constitutional provision we have. You can’t touch this. Our state power on the constitutional level is more powerful than any statute you may pass,'” said Vieira.
Because one of the litigant parties is a state, the case would go directly to the Supreme Court.
“We are talking about something completely new in terms of the legal playing field. This is no longer a fringe concept,” he adds, but cautions about a possible fight with the federal government: “We will have to see how committed the governor and the attorney general are.”

Lunacy, OWS, Nihilism, Anarchy, revolution within revolution, sabotage, sedition, ignorance, narcissism.....Wondrous Porridge of Doom, Death, and Disaster

_____________________________
We  know that this is a bit strange, but it really, truly seems that we have fallen into Wonderland, where all the words in this posting's title can find their definitions.   We urge all grandparents who have grandchildren to go and speak to those children if they are in the 6th to 11th grade range at public or private school.

This is the Head of the Journalism Department
of Sacramento Mao - Obama University
Serious consideration must be given to this business of trundling off to University.  Very sober and deliberate choosing must be done, especially in these days.  The Hanukah  - Feast of the Nativity - New Year celebrations are going to provide especially grandparents, uncles, aunts and older cousins to barge into the lives of the younger relatives....if only briefly.  Talk to them about technical training, regional public colleges, local community colleges, that are associated with good provincial State universities.   Tell them El Gringo Viejo graduated from Southwest Texas State University, as did his daughter and son and son-in-law.

It should be, in this writer's opinion, very clear that any attendance at an Ivy League school and/or any of the two or three hundred similar schools (City College of New York, Wellesley, and the like) is hopelessly pointless.   This is not limited to the private schools, as we note in the parenthetical, because almost all the mega-cathedrals of public academia, such as the University of Texas (especially Austin campus) are as bad as their Ivy League counterparts.

These schools have become the equivalent of "re-education camps" for recasting middle-class, upper-middle class, and affluent vacant skulls into mindless proles chanting, "Oh! How we love to carry dung to the dung heap for Chairman Mao".    The inmates are subjected to full-press peer-pressure, professorial bullying and ps
y-ops measures not un-like the POW camps run by the Red Chinese during the Korean War.   Between indoctrination sessions and stuporous episodes at the Bierhauses that surrounded the various campi most inmates at these institutions of "higher learning" are normally zombied-out  by the middle of their sophomore year.   Witness "Goldwater Girl" (Sir Edmund) Hillary who gave a stellar, marxist-oriented commencement speech at Wellesley.

Millions  and millions of dopes and dullards who genuinely
see your children and grandchildren as organ donors
for their children and grandchildre
n
Worse than all of the above is the fact that all of the above is now being mixed in with "student organizers", who have been in the area since during the "Hands Up - Don't Shoot" mess in Ferguson, Missouri.   These are the same refuse who used to be with ACORN, then Occupy Wall Street, and now various manifestations of (Only)Black Lives Matter.  Many of the aggrieved Missouri  Negro demonstrators are whites who are either sincere and stupid, or battle-hardened Occupy Wall Street Soros Zombies.

"But, but, Old Gringo, why are you calling these people names and making fun of them?"

In truth, there is no name- calling here.   These people arrived at a so-called university, and were fed a line of marxist bilge for three semesters.   Believing and knowing nothing before arrival, they readily filed into the brain-transplant  quirofano (antique Spanish for operating theatre) and came out as super dopes and dullards.  Sometimes such persons are referred to as "cannon fodder".

Another success of OWS, Black Lives Matter, Soros
rent-a-mob, and Social Democratic forces at work.
Detroit, Michigan

This "victory" by the nouveaux Viet Nam War Protestors will leave great institutions such as Mizzou as vacant and dead as an overgrown Southern Plantation or an abandoned steel mill in Pennsylvania.   Why would Division I football players, who are almost all receiving an almost totally free education with free grades for kinda-like attending styrofoam classes in "Gender, traffic lights, and television control devices  - The Racism Challenges of the coming centuries" feel like they need security blankets.   Why is something more needed to make them feel safe against the racism they suffer on apparently by-the-minute basis goes far beyond silly and frivolous.

The institution throws in the towel and yields to absurdity, lies, posturing, marxist-styled community organiser threats, and thereby relegates the "school" to the dust-bin of history.   It will be best left to the ones who won this battle.  Within weeks they will be turning on themselves.  Before the beginning of the second semester there will be shootings, drug dealers, and pimps.  Violence, especially against women, will become commonplace on the campus.  But they will not be even faux students.  They will be capos of, for, and by the 'hood.  Enforcers, bicycle-mounted watchers, territory defenders, and baggers.  Security guards will take on a different image and purpose.  Soon the school will look like Detroit.

It is exactly like the the forever-in-turmoil "universities" in the south of Mexico, as in Oaxaca, Michoacan, and Guerrero States where there are never ending sit-ins, marches, rowdy "meetings" that had been called to settle differences between contesting pro-marxist factions.  It is depressing madness.   The OROGs remember my stories about the Iguala ridiculousness.  (We exempt from blame the various Mexican University Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Veterinarian Science which range from very good to excellent.)

Mizzou Administrators...you all are a bunch of wimps and milquetoasts.  Boorish bullies must be confronted forcefully or else you will have to carve out "looting free zones" in every central part of every university campi.

Why War Must Be Declared, and then the politicians told to stand aside.

_______________________________

This advisory was forwarded by our observers guarding the outpost in extreme Central Texas.   It is maddening.   The one time when previous knowledge should have been rendered and was given, was to the Japanese before the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.   In that case, it thought only right to underscore to the Japanese that this would be an horrific disaster for the Japanese people and that they should have the chance to atone for their aggressions and surrender, thereby protecting Japan the annihilation  of one-half of one per cent of the Japanese race in minutes.

It should also be pointed out that the use of the two atomic bombs certainly saved the lives of as many as two million American and other allied military personnel, but also as many as nine to ten million Japanese who appeared to be willing to fight door-to-door for every square inch of Japanese territory.

To have rendered such warning to the North Vietnamese and their allies in Red China seems absurd.  We must remember, as well the relentless bombing of Dresden, Nuremberg, Berlin, and other such places in and around Germany which was done with little or no concern for the civilians.   They were seen as willing enablers of the National Socialist party and its SS officialdom.   Many POWs from various countries, and Polish and other European slaves were killed in the underground factories during the Allied bombing raids.   There was no other way.

"The Secret War and Other Conflicts"

(Published 2014 by General Pete Piotrowski, ISBN 978-1-4931-6187-4 (Hardcover)

Following is a quote of much interest, from pages 246/247:

"Nearly twenty years later, former Secretar y of State Dean Rusk being interviewed by Peter Arnett on a CBS documentary called "The Ten Thousand Day War".

Mr Arnett asked, "It has been rumored that the United States provided the North Vietnamese government the names of the targets that would be bombed the following day.  Is there any truth to that allegation?"

To everyone's astonishment and absolute disgust, the former Secretary responded, "Yes.  We didn't want to harm the North Vietnamese people, so we passed the targets to the Swiss embassy in Washington with instructions to pass them to the NVN government through their embassy in Hanoi."  As we watched in horror, Secretary Rusk went on to say, "All we wanted to do is demonstrate to the North Vietnamese leadership that we could strike targets at will, but we didn't want to kill innocent people.  By giving the North Vietnamese advanced warning of the targets to be attacked, we thought they would tell the workers to stay home."

No wonder all the targets were so heavily defended day after day!  The NVN obviously moved as many guns as they could overnight to better defend each target they knew was going to be attacked.  Clearly, many brave American Air Force and Navy fliers died or spent years in NVN prison camps as a direct result of being intentionally betrayed by Secretary Rusk and Secretary McNamara, and perhaps, President Johnson himself.

I cannot think of a more duplicitous and treacherous act of American government officials.  Dean Rusk served as Secretary of State from January 21, 1961, through to January 20, 1969, under President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.  Perhaps Senator John McCain, POW for five years and presidential candidate in 2008, was one of the many victims of this utter stupidity and flawed policy flowing from President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Mr. Peter Arnett opined that this would be a treasonous act by anyone else."

A very sad revelation- for even ONE mission.
__________________________

We return to the original point, that the people of North Viet Nam were essentially held captive by a brutal oligarchy of military thugs.   When the South Vietnamese were correctly accused of corruption of various sorts, we need to be aware that the North Vietnamese officials were all totally corrupt.  They were perverse and sadistic, brutalizing their own people and sacrificing them to all nature of false objectives.
Their Pyrrhic Victory, of sorts, over the Republic of South Vietnam  left them exhausted and required to turn to the happy disorder and happy inefficiencies of South Viet Nam's Buddhism, Catholicism, small business, private farming, and grey-market "traditions".  Those "allowances" were what brought back a degree of prosperity substantially higher than that enjoyed by the Red Chinese plebeian rural class.  Look at the difference between the quality of Vietnamese products and Red Chinese products.

The idea of sending American Fly-boys into certain re-intensified air-defenses was most certainly treason.   And McNamara and LBJ and the lot of them judged Nixon....Mein Gott!!

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the

Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,

But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of its releases.

A.

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D.

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.

A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...

let's take a look at New Orleans ...
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,

Mary Landrieu was asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
To rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
What does it mean?

A.

Well .. If you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman and child)
You each get $516,528

B.

Or... If you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C.

Or... If you are a family of four...
Your family gets$2,066,012.

Ricardo Arjona - Fuiste tú feat. Gaby Moreno- Sent in by Agent Milton from South Carolina, OROG #009

______________________

These are scenes that are common in the inner Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and the upper lands of Guatemala.    Arjuna  is a gifted artist, dedicated like many of his genre and generation to causes and perceptions about the cause of the maladies that he laments, whether accurate or not quite accurate. But he not a hypocrite.

One thing he is?  A talent at least on the order of Enya
and far. far beyond Joan Baez.

My time in and around Antigua, the impossible to describe El  Tikal
Archaeological Site and Zone, Lake Atitlan, and the Rio Dulce was
wholly pleasant.

While this film is a bit cleaned up and staged, the
La Antigua area of Guatemala is as presentable as it is presented on
your screen.

There is so much to explain and the Right has failed in
not being forthright in laying much of the blame for the failures in
the area, upon the feuding among various leftist groups
jockeying for supremacy and control over the Maya in the north.

Governments, both left and right, always seem to succumb to "suitcase
filling" at the end of their terms, and moving to Miami.  Private investment
is difficult to maintain with that kind of environment.

There are other problems as well, but Arjona's overly
romanticised images are closer to the truth than one might
imagine.  Much of Guatemala's north is stunning.

The people there treated me as visiting royalty might be treated.
Far better than Belize.

This was sent in by one of our OROGs who declared it his favourite.  It dawns on me, how all our contributors and friends are right-wingers but have artistic tastes that override certain boundaries.  Yet we are said to be intolerant.  One might point out that Arjona worked with two Americans in a trio named Los Gringos, and he continued the perfection of his work working with the Blue Grotto in a place called Nashville, Tennessee.  Arjona and Gaby Moreno are geniuses.  The cinematography of this video is perfect, the execution, theme, and plot are profound...it is separation, not coming together....and it shows the many beauty marks of Arjona's and Moreno's hearts' land.
