Interesting Episode: The sedate Corporal and the braying blowhard

Bill O'Reilly sang a bit of a different tune.   He is a blowhard and a fool.  Corp. Hammer was careful wth Mr. O'Reilly, and it was good to see that he was somewhat complementary about "the Mexican people"....but, unless we missed something...he did not express any gratitude to Mr. O'Reilly for having intervened.   Corp. Hammer probably knows that O'Reilly came very close to muddling an affair that had already been resolved. The only Americans who were effective were the Senator Rubio, the Governor of Florida, and the Republcian lady,  Ros, I believe.

     We re-submit these  observatons from 22 December 2012 .   They were true then, and as is the truth, they are true now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AN IRRITATION:
     It disappoints, as always, when FOX News decides to join into and reinforce the popular perception created by the leftist press about the situation in Mexico. The whole picture is not that much different than here in the United States. In many ways, quite frankly, things are better South of the Border.
     So when O'Reilly, or the voices on The Five, and others on FOX News were admonishing that Mexican prisons are Hell Holes where the cartels run the show, and that especially Americans are targeted by the criminal and general population of Mexico, and that everything is corrupt.....it brings to mind motes and beams and eyes, kettles, pots, and black.
     While O'Reilly, for instance, was warning that if "President Nieto" did not release Corporal Hammer, that Mr. O'Reilly would "take care of Mexico's tourism industry". Mr. O'Reilly is such an expert on matters Mexican, that he is unaware that it is President Pen~a....not Nieto. The paternal surname immediately follows the given name(s) in almost all Latin American and Spanish speaking countries.
       The Hammer case was already essentially resolved. The Mexican Secretary of the Navy had declared the issue to have been warrantless and that no crime had been committed because the person involved had voluntarily revealed the shotgun in question and requested permitting for said instrument. The telephone calls received by the family were from prisoners and/or family members of prisoners who commonly attempt to extort money from family members of other prisoners, especially the newly arrived. American prison gangs do the same thing.
       The fear held by this observer was that what ground had been covered might possibly have to be re-ploughed because Mexican arrogance is similar to American arrogance. If they are pushed, they tend to push back, sometimes to their own detriment. O'Reilly fell into this category in a way.
      Many things about this case that were commonly known in Mexico were not reported by O'Reilly or anyone else in the United States. The most vigorous operator in this matter had been the the Tamaulipas State Chamber of Commerce. The final attorney in Mexico City had served well. The usually useless Human Rights Commission (totally pinko) served well. Various State and local elected officials had also been pointing out behind the scenes that the Secretary of the Navy's position was totally accurate.    His formal position was:  The federal customs and immigration official had overreacted to some personal affront, and "behaved stupidly" in the words of a great American leader. It was all but unreported that Corporal Hammer's friend was not detained during this same incident.
     And, while even Laura Ingraham had to pile on, please be assured that of the 1,000 Americans behind bars presently in Mexico, somewhere between 950 to 1,000 are not the type of person with whom you would like your teenaged daughter to be spending time. As well, of the 140 Americans killed in Mexico during the last year, O'Reilly and Laura and the rest of the choir seem to leave out that 130 or so were very, very probably involved in the drug trafficking business.   In that truth,  there is something usually that can be stated about fleas, dogs, and lying down with, etc.
      It is my judgement that the full weight of the blame....at least 99% of the fault in this issue....lies with the Mexican customs and immigration officer. All he would have had to have done, at worst, is to have ordered the individual back to the American side. There is some blame to be spread onto the American border agents who apparently told the boy that there would be no problems, just to declare the gun and get the permits. The permits have to be obtained before going in.
      And while all this is going on, there is a 340,000 tonne elephant sitting there on the FOX News set, minding its own business. "Don't go to Mexico, it's dangerous and corrupt, and they are always doing things all the time to everybody...especially Americans", they say. While we have Benghazi unresolved....Fast and Furious left unresolved....20 dead children in Newtown, Connecticut....overwhelming corruption at all levels in the United States Government....Solyndra ignored....expropriation of General Motors and Chrysler....and some jackass from Chicago talking about reasonable new firearms legislation, like, you know, Chicago....where "One a Day" would be a substantial improvement. Thank the Lord that Chicago has stringent firearms control. That solved all the problems.
       Please allow us to include that during El Gringo Viejo's professional and business life, he conducted, permitted, licensed, escorted, guided, scouted, and otherwise attended to the issues of hunting game birds in Mexico involving hundreds upon hundreds of hunters, and thousands of shotguns, scores of thousands of importations of rounds of ammunition. Never had one man detained.
      So that all OROGs will be aware, El Gringo Viejo has perhaps one or two friends in the world.   He is pretty much detested and hated by all who know him due to his contrarianism, and it really hurts his feelings a lot.
     But all Americans should be aware that when Mexicans begin to moan about how bad the discrimination and violence is in the United States,  I point out that in 1950 Mexicans receiving public assistance in the United States amounted to less than 1% of the total number of welfare recipients in America.  Now, due to anchor babies and lack of enforcement of rules concerning legal aliens becoming wards of the State, almost 12% are Mexicans.  Another 3% are from other places in Latin America.
     Save for Americans coming over to buy subsidised pharmaceuticals along the border...and a few to take advantage of the "Seguro Popular" (which Americans use as a back up health insurance policy 200 USD/yr)...who are living full or part time in Mexico...we don't barge in on the Mexican "safety net" all that much.
     And while we have 1,039 (or so) prisoners in Mexican formal prison, I remind the Mexicans who are moaning, that there are almost 70,000 Mexican citizens in state and federal detention at this time in the United States, my best estimate would be that 99% of all those detained are more than justifiably detained.  These numbers do not include simple alien detentions for deportation.  I also point out that of Mexicans who are killed by act of murder or violence in the United States, over 80% are killed by other Mexicans...both usually being illegal aliens.  Almost all are killed by people with whom they are in familial or close social contact or in illegal activity, usually organised theft rings or drug dealing/trafficking.
     In any regard, I do not put up with any euphemisms or blisteringly false "everybody knows" jibberish about mistreatment Mexicans or Latin Americans in the United States.  El Gringo Viejo also makes himself less than popular by pointing out that people leave Mexico and go to the United States because they are usually treated better...not worse...there, than in Mexico.
     So, now everyone knows that El Gringo Viejo is a cranky old contrarian curmudgeon.  Perhaps in drawing out all the poison of inaccurate judgementalism and making both sides hate my guts, we can draw the two great peoples together in a positive way.
For Those Who so Will, El Gringo Viejo already has!
Representative To File Texas ‘Firearm Protection Act’
Texas State Representative Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) has begun the process to file legislation assisting the protection of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. The “Firearms Protection Act” bill would make any federal law banning semi-automatic firearms or limiting the size of gun magazines unenforceable within the state’s boundaries. Anyone trying to enforce a federal gun ban could face felony charges under the proposal.
IF YOU APPROVE OF THIS MEASURE, PLEASE COMMUNICATE YOUR SUPPORT TO THE OFFICE OF REP. STEVE TOTH AND/OR TO YOUR PARTICULAR REPRESENTATIVE AND/OR SENATOR WITHIN THE CONGRESS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS.
EL GRINGO VIEJO appreciates your interest and tolerance of our concern about this and other issues affecting the sudden assault on several fundamental rights and prerogatives of a free people under the traditions of English Common Law beginning from the Time of Arthur, the acceptance of the Crown of the conditions specified in the Magna Carta  and the Mexican Constitution of 1824 as it was inspired by the Constitution of the United States of America of 1783.
   If we choose to meddle in this affair...and we must...we are all well advised to communicate our approval of this legislation.  Every impediment must be thrown in front of the "reasonable" and "common sense" approaches to "keeping our children safe".   We know, you know, that such language is designed for the focus group, by the focus group, and of the focus group.  My job as a father was to keep my children safe.  I never did a perfect nor even very good job of it, but I did recognise that I was the first line involved in "keeping the children safe".
    The socialist progressives have birthed-up a race that is composed of many races and ethnicities.  There is one commonality.  They are soulless, products of public assistance, and of a sterile social code that permits no judgements, no Cosmic or Divine Force, and which rewards sloth and self-indulgence.   The socialist progressive gain their influence over the culture by making as many people dependent upon the government larder as possible.  Oddly, they depend upon the dependent.
    I refuse to be one of their slaves.   When a man is filled with the conceit and deceit to be able to say without snorting with laughter and contempt for his listeners,"I want to implement these common sense initiatives that are approved by all reasonable people so that I can ensure that what happened in Newtown will never happen again.".....then we are being led by a madman.
    We are not the uninformed.  We know that per capita deaths by firearms has decreased by over 50% during the past 20 years.  Much of the reason for this is because people are more well armed and have a better understanding of how to use weaponry that is commonly available,  A once liberal professor set out to write a book about the dangers of firearms in America.   Upon finishing his research he wrote a famous book and titled it "More Guns - Less Crime"  ( johnrlott.blogspot.com/).  He wrote that book because his sociological, demographic, and criminal history research showed that well armed communities and neighbourhoods, filled with people with a communitarian ethic, were incredibly safe, while disarmed and/or unarmed neighbourhoods tended to be at the mercy of thugs and gangs who were well armed but had no sense about the morality or nature of correct firearm usage.   Result, fewer guns, more killings....More guns...fewer killings.  Book is in its third printing.  Hillary and Mrs. Brady hate it.
Thank you for your attention and kind understanding.
Oddities and Contemplations of an American Life
     The OROG has become accustomed  to the frequently contrarian notions that rattle around in the brain of El Gringo Viejo.  He allows the public to wander into this conflicted mind and, at times, convoluted reasoning that takes place in that strange area. This is done to help the reader know and understand that he/she is not strange.  Other people who seem reasonable and sane, although they think differently and conclude differently, can take faith that they are not alone on an island.   The difference between me and thee, however, is that your humble servant really is substantially cuckoo,  pleasantly cuckoo most of the time, but cuckoo, nonetheless.   Cuckoos are actually interesting, fairly sane and normal birds.    There are a few reasons for my particular disorder.
      El Gringo Viejo's father had a father who lost two brothers to Confederate military action in 1863.   It wound up killing the father of the Union heroes...he entered into a near catatonic depression after about 18 months, became silent, and just died in 1867 at the age of 57.
Chickamauga
 24,000 casualties dead, wounded, and missing
     El Gringo Viejo's mother had various great uncles and a grandfather and great-grandfather who served the Confederacy in various ways....from mundane to heroic.  One first cousin, twice removed, was killed in action in northern Mississippi, and another, a brother of her grandmother died of his wounds after 2 years of convalescence from wounds received in action at Chickamauga.  The other veterans went home and became good Americans and made good Americans of their children....but they never lost their bitterness.
     So everything is predictable, right?   Wellllllllll, not really.   The very, very, very few time my parents ever talked about the issue of The War, went some like this.   Mrs. Snooflesploot is visiting and she brings up something about a play at the primary school and that she is doing a 'Civil War' costume for her granddaughter.   Frilly hoop skirt, crinolines, lots of ribbons, parasol...she's just going to be the showiest belle of the play.
    My mother says that is nice, but it's a shame to make a happy thing out of so much devastation.  My father says that such is the nature of war, look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  And then he goes on with, "My father always said that his father hated Lincoln because he should have left the South to go. He always said that it was better to be apart and be friends than to be forced together and hate each other.  The Negro will not win anything out of any of this, the South will nave nothing after Reconstruction and the North will be damaged because of it.   My mother said the same thing, and she was New Yorker....a real Knickerbocker.  Lincoln was the worst president in history, after FDR,"
     The social room, where the fireplace is, has a lot of pipe smoke layered in the calmish room, no HAVC in those days....it is quiet.  Mrs. Snooflesploot, breaks the too-long silence,"Well, Noli, you found yourself a good Yankee, didn't you?"
     My mother is sewing something, it must have been some of the bows she was attaching to the skirt.   She was not a seamstress, in that sense, but she was very good with a needle and seemed to excel at "project" type sewing.   She preferred needle work, it seems as I think about it now, to making things with her sewing machine.  She finally commented, "Lincoln may have been a dog or a madman, but the South would have been better off if he had lived.  John Wilkes Boothe delivered us into the hands of the rabid Republicans....Lincoln wanted to put the country back together and the Republican hypocrites wanted to punish the South".
Alexander Hamilton
 Stevens
Vice-President
Confederate States of
America
      Another two minutes passed.  My father stood up, re-lit his pipe and...Mrs. Snooflesploot cleared her throat and kept looking at her stitching activity, trying not to make contact with the "nice, married couple or even their little boy who seemed so interested in the sewing and the grading of school papers...while my father said,"Lincoln would not have had to put the country together if he hadn't torn it apart.  Almost a million people died for nothing".  And then he went outside to do some project or another, while the tortoise shell cat, "Cutie" ran in with the opportunity of the open screen door presenting itself.
     So there you have it...a five year old witnessing a....disagreement....about something that was of primordial developmental understanding by a man and a woman of the same nationality, an extremely similar race, and an very similar ethnicity, and with a convoluted interpretation about the value of a man that one would have thought should have been easily predictable. My mother would have preferred Lincoln to what we received...and her a Tennessean...with Andrew Johnson, a neighbour to her family in Tennessee coming to the Presidency by virtue of assassination.  My father, a nephew of Yankee heroes, despised Wyatt Earp, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.....and Harold Ickes.
    They say that Johnson may have been sober once after the age of 10, but that is disputed.   Oddly, he hated Negroes, but he was good enough to be vice-president for Lincoln.   Although Jefferson Davis was much more "at home" in the company of Negroes (kind of a early day liberal)  and even Alexander Stephens, in spite of strong statements about inferiority and superiority, was concerned about "fair treatment: of the bound and free Negro" ,  the world assumes that Lincoln saw the Negro as an equal (he decidedly did not) or that Andrew Johnson was a "liberal thinker" about the Negro..(he was a dull N****r - hating drunk).   The people of Eastern Tennessee saw him as such.
     So, if The War (my mother's parents called it The Woh - wah)  was bound to be lost, the people, at least in Eastern Tennessee, would have preferred Lincoln to their own...Andrew Johnson.  And many people from Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania....with 300 killed from that one County....might have preferred to have just passed on the entire bellicosity, never having heard of Abraham Whoever.
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Now you all know why El Gringo Viejo is kooky.  My very Yankee father and his father and grandfather hated Lincoln, although they were, obviously, very tightly related by blood to two Yankee heroes.   And when we say Yankee, we do not mean Northerners...we mean these are people with full-scale Massachusetts, Vermont-Maine-New Hampshire, New York highlands and Hudson people.   And my mother and her people did not discuss whether or not the wrong side won The Woh - wah,  that was settled.   But they all agreed that they "would have been" better off with Lincoln in charge of the post- Woh-wah period.
     We all shared in a distaste for another Southern Icon, Andrew Jackson, because he sold out the Cherokee and the other honourable Indians who had fought and then befriended, intermarried, and become integral with the Tennessee and adjacent whites.  He sold them out to Northern business interests and lost much of his home State backing during his time in Washington.
    But I was left with a dislike and a negative understanding of Abraham Lincoln, reinforced by further study, like my father, his father, and old Hubbard before us.   And, all three brothers of this Yankee man and Confederate woman....were it to occur again, would take a Southern Stand.

     Convolution, contradiction, and contrarianism.  The American Saxon becomes his own enigma.   Pray for America.  Consider my path, but do not join it, lest you are convinced of it.  If not, remain an American and raise your children and grandchildren to be good Americans, but I am going deeper into Texas...my flag is changing not because of hatred but for the sake of preference.

Over the Weekend Housecleaning, advisories, up-dates

First, we would like to notice that the AP did a bit of an article about the boys and young men in the State of Guerrero, Mexico substantially taking matters into their own hands, and with their own armaments and initiative, establishing a non-criminality zone in their home area.  The AP article was "flexibly inaccurate and accurate" .   They do not want any notion to be presented that armed civilians, not in the constabulary, should have any right to defend themselves, especially with firearms, and certainly no right to enforce law or customs of a locale without receiving permission from (Sir Edmund)Hillary and the Peoples' Committee for the Popular Front for the Solidarity of Oppressed Popular Fronts and Committees for Solidarity.
     Please be aware that the comments and presentation made by El Gringo Viejo were and are substantially more accurate than the article prepared by the AP.   Over 90% of the area concerned is, in fact, in the State of Guerrero, and the spillover of the dispersed and disparate thugs that have been set on the run by the Military came from westernmost Michoacan and  from Mexico States that lie to the east of the area we are citing.  Also, once the young men began to defend their mothers, sisters, and cousins, and the general social peace, they were contacted by the Governor of Guerrero, who then FINALLY requested the Army to enter the area (a constitutional oddity in Mexico).   The Army, all veterans of combat with the cartels determined that the moral ground was held by these self-motivated boys and that their procedures had been in keeping with reasonable self-defence prerogatives.   The Army even assisted in refining the boys'  strategies, appearances, tactics, and understanding of detention procedures...so as to not lose in court what was gained on the battlefield.   The proof of the pudding is that these young men are operating under the guidance of the Army, but the Army is allowing the young locals to, as we stated before, do the heavy lifting.
      It is a massive victory for our side...especially during these days when vermin in the American White House and in the United States Congress and in the general agrupation of leftist eltiist snobs are in a full-court press to abolish the intent and effect of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution.    All OROGs should become more familiar with this matter, not through the Obsolete Press however, and cram this story down their whatevers,  We can tke the AP story to the nearest kitchen lavatory disposal. !!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Next, please notice how, for the next few months at least, the Obsolete Press will print articles about Mexico, but those articles will not close with "Mexico has been involved with an on-going issue involving violence that has taken the lives of 60,000 people since Felipe Calderon Hinojosa began military action against the cartels.  This action is widely unpopular among the Mexican people and has failed to curtail any of the violence".
      This is a shout around to El Gringo Viejo's closest friends and neighbours.   The Obsolete Press ran those paragraphs in almost every article about Mexico for five years.   It was an obligatory tag-on.  Why?    Because Felipe Calderon Hinojosa was a fairly popular...very popular by Mexican standards...president.   While the people did not like the disorder, the execution of the war was and is widely understood to the necessary and better than any other alternative.   As Calderon left office, the Mexican economy was entering into labour shortages, the peso was essentially stronger than the dollar due to fiscal restraints practised by the administration....especially when compared to the profligacy of the Obama nightmare.  And another thing had happened.  The war on the cartel had, for all practical purposes, tipped over in favour of the Military and other active measures.   Violence was increasing contained to cartel vs. cartel, gang vs. gang, and even that was diminishing.
     Lamentably, the Mexican electorate fell for a hatchet job on the PAN candidate, and elected a pretty boy from the old ruling party.   One of the ways he gained election was by convincing a bunch of RINO type Mexican Republicans (National Action Party members) that he would continue the war and military presence against the cartels, and continue to advance  pro-business, pro-independent labour unions, and tight fiscal policies of the previous two administrations.
      Some of the Rhino-PRI mastadons snickered and knew that Pretty Boy (Pen~a Nieto)would not be able to keep his word because the PRI always says whatever is necessary to be elected and then they go to McAllen to spend the (city's)(county's)(State's)(nation's) budget allocations on their daughter's wedding, porno films, and a condominium at South Padre Island.  While such a charge is a bit of an oversimplification,  Mexicans are holding their breathe to see if the once atrocious, tectonic central government bureaucracy is going to continue with its efficiency and civility that has been increasingly the rule for the last decade....or if it begins to slide back into the dark labyrinth of interconnected cavernous hide-outs for slothful, corrupt, gratuity driven slobs and their "secretaries".
       So far, the cartels have remained terribly degraded.    The military pressure has, if anything,  broken into small, almost commando-like search and destroy units...still very much under regimental and division control, but apparently dedicated to tracking down the dispersed and disorganised remnants of the Cartels evermore aggressively.  A band of 12 in rural eastern Durango State made the mistake of taking on a slightly larger Army Patrol last week.   The score was 12  -   0   after the first 4 minutes.
      So....it may be the case that in a couple of months the Obsolete Press will start reporting that 70,000 have died in the war that Felipe Calderon started and Pen~a Nieto is stupidly continuing and all Mexicans are begging for Andre Manuel Lopez Obrador (marxist) and Hillary Rodham Clinton  (Hillaryist) to come and save the nation.  Or, hopefully, maybe the Obsolete Press will just....fade.........away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

       Next, folks....Gretchen....all press people.....all the girls.....ALL FIREARMS ARE ASSAULT WEAPONS.....ALL BB GUNS AND PELLET GUNS ARE ASSAULT WEAPONS.  When (Sir Edmund)Hillary is around, any lamp or ashtray is an assault weapon.   BUT,   an AR-15 is not a militarised rifle...that is an AR-16....although they are similar in appearance and both come in various formats.   Gretchen, please think!!!   The term "Semi-automatic" does not mean meaner and more devastating.   It only means  that a new cartridge is loaded into the breach and firing chamber by means of using the gasses that were produced by the firing of the previous bullet.   Semi-automatic...one pull of the trigger - one shot.    AUTOMATIC means one pull of the trigger ....lots of shots...
        The banning of any and/or both and/or all of  any types of weapons or weapon-like instruments will never, never, never, never, have any effect upon that individual or group that intends to obtain said machinery for nefarious, immoral, and/or illegal purpose.

         While the Brits have all but a total ban on firearm possession by dumboes like me, and they have many fewer per capita shootings of people than in the United States, they also have another little problem brought on by the dole and socialism.   Their overall crime rate, including pilfering, burglary, home invasions,  assault, assault with the intent to do serious bodily harm (intent to murder), rape, sexual assault, robbery by force or instrument (knife, bat, brass knuckles) much worse than in Texas.

           The Japanese also have almost no gun crime.   That is not because of a lack of guns so much as the fact that they have had....(we shall see if they can maintain it)...essentially a sociographic of 122,000,000 people in the upper-middle class,  492 people in other classes, an Emperor and an Empress, their children, staff, and servants...and that's all.   About 98% of the population believes that their departed ancestors are watching them in cosmic communion with the Universal Balancing Force.   While they are not saints, they all have certain knowledge of the human responsibilities as put forth in Shintoism, Confusciusism, Buddhism,  Taoism, and Christianism.....and they believe, whole or in part, some and or/all all of some combination or at least one of the "isms" cited.    They play baseball, and they all (99%) have high school, trade school, and or university.   And the girls are prettier than the Chinese girls, except for some Chinese girls from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
          But they still commit violence, and sometimes with guns, but usually with knives, autos, and blunt instruments.   Those are the instruments of the small but violent  Japanese underworld.

       It will stun the ignorant, and even the fair-minded.  The period of greatest violent crime and mulitiple assassination/murder episodes in terms of per capita incidents, began to peak back in the 1918 -  1924 period with the first real automatic weapons wars between rival Italian immigrant mafia groups and certain other immigrant groups, mixed with a bit of Southern Pride...associated with the moonshine/white lightning reaction to Margaret Sanger and the KU KLUX KLAN  inspired Prohibition.   The sharpest drop in the per-capita violent gun crime and overall crime rate has been since the late 1980s to the present time.   Almost all of that is due to the incarceration of evil and violent criminals for longer terms and because more and more States are opting to allow for the permitting of an armed civilian population.

      When El Gringo Viejo was a child, the Sheriff of Hidalgo County came by our place...on a formal call.  He had a deputy driving the Sheriff's command car...all in uniform, very formal and proper.   I was about 4 years old.  We were on the front lawn, playing croquet of all things.   The two uniformed men came from our circular, gravelled driveway over to our little game and shook hands, patted heads of the children, spoke to the workers in a proper and civilised way.   The Sheriff handed my father an envelope and asked him to read the letter, and if he agreed to the terms and conditions, he wanted to swear my father in.
     It was a weekend, I presume, becaue both my brothers were present as was the maid, my mother. my father's majordomo, and some other neighbours and friends.   I remember my brothers and so of their buds cranking the ice-cream machine.   In any regard, the Sheriff had his man hold up a bible for my father to rest his left hand upon and my father raised his right hand, and he repeated a short oath after the prompting by the Sheriff's reading from a card.
      The entire deal did not take more than six minutes.   Goodbyes were said, and the fancy Sheriff's car and the two visitors were gone before there was even time to acknowledge that they had been there at all.    The thing that had happened was that my father had been named to a fairly prestigious  thing....mainly honorary....known as the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Posse.  It still functioned, and they would, at times, ride horses in the 4th of July Parade, and rarely be called upon to come and back up or look into or assist in providing traffick monitors at big important football games or funeral parking and motor corteges to cemeteries...and very rarely to form a perimeter to close in on a known position of a desperado...a person with a serious warrant or who had escaped jail or prison.

     Tht was then, when folks had been prohibited for a couple of generations in Texas from carrying a gun around or even having one in the passenger area (glove compartment, for instance) of the auto, while "just driving around town".    Now, Texas has decided, "more guns,  less crime"....and Texas decided correctly.  By urging, legally allowing, and pushing firearm safety and reasonable use, the bad guys are less and less disposed to take on just any dumboe.   It still happens....it still happens too much, but the overall violent crime rate in Texas, per capita, has plummeted in the last 10 years...in some cases and categories as much as 80%.   !!!
      The worst criminal activity?   Where there is a culture of multigenerational welfare and other forms of public assistance.

     We are trying to breathe life into another page, where would really like for all OROGs, new and old to place their questions and comments.   We are going to be using that site also for clients to make reservatins and make lengthier enquiries about a possible stay at our Bed and Breakfast.    The New Pax Mexicanus is beginning to seep into the active part of  peoples' brains and we are picking up more questions that are at times shunted off into the Spam section.   So we are providing a less efficient but more effective entry point on our side-bar.   It is still under construction, but it can be navigated...1950 technology..don't you know.

Please make sure to check the over-the-weekend-postings.   There is a bit of video and a few other interesting things.   Please purchase all your automobiles from out adsense postings and have a good start to this sure to be interesting week.   We are not depressed about the Texans...they did good against the best....and next year we'll know which trees and rocks to hide behind and when to attack them Yankees.

Watch this lady stuff it down the gun grabbers' gullets

   This is the girl who ran for the Texas Congress's lower chamber, the House of Representatives shortly after this testimony and successfully brought the Texian populace the right to carry concealed weapons.   Her legislation vindicated millions of Texas who had responsibly been armed without incident for years.   Her initiative liberated Texas to become perhaps the least affected, per capita, by violent and/or serious property crime of all 57 States in the United States at this time.  With the Grace of Providence, sooner rather than later there will be a maximum of 56 States in the old federal Union.
      All OROGs must review this film and forward it to all the corners of the Universe.   Suzanna Hupp is a true Jean d'Arc, a Texian Heroine for all times.

El Gringo Viejo

An Armed Citizenry, Valour, Commitment....

     Emboldened by the Mexican Army and certain regional authorities, young men in a remote location in the State of Guerrero, in far southern Mexico have decided to take up arms against residual groups of cartel members who have been tormenting some significant villages and agricultural and seafood production areas.    The first thing that was done?   The relaxation of the idiotic gun laws for a number of contiguous counties in the State, and the call for a militia of civilians to formalise their already operational resistance to the bandit/extortionists.

     They youngsters have been given a point of administrative connexion to the  Mexican Army and they have been authorised to exercise powers normally reserved to the constabulary.  They have been authorised to inspect traffic entering their communities, to board busses, and to serve arrest warrants....using any necessary force to bring such individuals before the bench.

     Most of the miscreants are left-overs slugs from the semi-organised band that were loosely incorporated into one of two different cartels   (the "Caballeros Templares" [knights templar] and the cartel de Michoacan/Sinaloa).   Both of these groups were fighting over the control of the area and both were severely degraded during the past two years.   The centre of operations was around Apatzingan, Michoacan, somewhat near the zone of activity under discussion here, but in the State of Guerrero.

     BUT....this is not the really big news.  What is interesting is the reaction of the people in the area and throughout the Region.  What is telling is one Mexican's writing in to the newspaper with these comments....

"Mercenary 1945 writes:
     The strongest reason for the retention of the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resource, to protect they themselves from the tyranny of the government......Thomas Jefferson

      Democracy will cease to exist when substance is taken from those who are disposed to work, and substance is given to those who are disposed to not work..............Thomas Jefferson

     Mexico should have a militia, completely independent from the Government, since the militia is different from the Army, firstly it is the interests of the people, and the difference, as a second point, that the Army is at the disposition of the President of that particular term. (consider Tlaltelolco1968, Chiapas 1994, Railroad Workers Union strike 1959, and the assassination of Ruben Jaramillo in 1962 at the hands of the Army.  And, the assassination of Professor Lucio Caban~as at the hands of the National Army).

     This particular column had several score "readers' comments" , all of which were overwhelmingly in favour of the 600 lads who had formed up their militia and required that the State and National authority recognise them.   The submission by "Mercenario 1945" however was the most interesting because it is the confusion of a marxist's notion of order,  while condemning the brutality of a socialist, paternalistic, corrupt, and politically all-powerful government (the PRI) using its power against communists who were (are) dedicated to the violent overthrow of the Mexican federal republican union.
     Tlaltelolco was the site in central Mexico City where communist insurgents had called for a demonstration against everything from the War in Viet Nam to the fascist prostitution of Mexico in favour of  the interests of the industrialists and corrupt politicians by having spent so much money on the Olympics.   Their intent was to stop the 1968 Summer Olympics.  After several day of increasingly violent confrontation, and then furtive people firing upon the cordon of soldiers (clearly shown in various filmings), the large contingent of soldiers fired, without warning shots, directly into the crowd of agitators and university level students and such hangers-on who might normally be found in a group such as that.   The communist organs declared that it had been a massacre...over 1,000 shot down.  The government said that various soldiers had been wounded and that it was lamented that the prevaricators had taken refuge behind the demonstrators who had been told repeatedly to desist and disperse.  They estimated the number of dead at 12 and the wounded at something like 100.    The order to fire had been given on site and personally by the Secretary of Government  (number two man in the Mexican governmental organisation)...the famous extreme marxist Luis Echeverria Alvarez.   He was to become president himself two years later, and begin a destruction of the  Mexican economy (lots of shovel ready projects and wealth redistribution and unbalanced budgets) that would take 25 years to cure.
    Chiapas, of course, is the Grand Movement of sub-Comandante Marcos, a tragi-comedy funded by the widow of Francois Mitterand... he a famous Nazi collaborator during the Vichy period, then arch-Socialist anti-de Gaul maniac, President of France for a time, before the devil came to collect his debts.   Marcos (actually the scion of a well to do doctor's family from Tampico...a white Mexican born to wealth...) led his "indigenous socialists' revolution" into a quagmire of never-ending pontificatory, pointless plans, pronouncements, and proposals that would ultimately solve all the problems of the perpetually poor and exploited again, just like they always had.   In other words, things are worse for the Chiapaneco and Lacandona now than they were before.
    The Railroad Workers' Strike of 1959 was another communist effort, in solidarity with the advance of the Cuban Popular Marxist Democratic Revolution,  to take over a union that was one of the biggest emeralds in the clunky, massive Crown of the  Institutional Revolutionary Party (the PRI) that had ruled Mexico, by that time, for two-plus,  iron-handed, paternalistic generations.   The Communist agents trying to take over the union, also tried to take over the locomotive and rolling stock of the National Railways of Mexico....and at the end of the day....they lost.  Many learned a very brief lesson about the exercise of political power,  and were carted off in meat wagons to the funeral homes in various major Mexican rail termini and centres.   Some estimates rise to the level of 240 or so went to be with Joseph and Karl and Nickie in nirvana.

     All of this is in keeping with the nature of marxist, progressive, and communist commitment to sacrifice the common dumboe union member, daft-brained 20 year old universitario, or peasant who have been loaded up with ten or twelve beers or half a bottle of new aguardiente (literally fire-water...125 proof sugar cane pre-rum ..aka "anticongelante" which means anti-freeze).

     What is compelling is that  our friend, Mercenary 1945 on the one hand lauds the idea of a citizens' militia, and invokes the democratic-republican notions of Jefferson, which directly contradict the marxist precepts he seems to honour by his further citations. Yet, we as straight-thinking conservatives could only join hands with him and his apparent gradual abandonment of tumbled down marxist windmills to side with the self-provident.  We must remember that the greatest Mexican philosopher, poet, and writer of modern times was Octavio Paz who journied from beyond Diego and Frida, finally winding up at home with Adam Smith and Milton Friedman long before his death.

An armed citizenry, eliminating their
tormentors.   These boys from the coastal
areas in western Guererero State brought
peace through strength and fortitude
to their home, freinds, and family.

     It has been several weeks now  that these boys (essentially boys) have restored order in five counties, scruffed up about forty snivelly scumboes with serious, serious warrants out on them, and done it all with their beat-up old shotguns, .22 revolvers and semi-automatics, co-ordinating and taking a little better than basic training and guidance from the Army...and all without any known breach of honour or abuse of power.  These lads, and many like them, were frequently "chaperoned" by small contingents of Regular Army, but it was the Army's decision to let the boys genuinely do the heavy lifting, thereby gaining the respect and confidence, both ways, of everyone concerned.....except for the bad guys.

Enough venting for to-day.   Everybody can relax again.
