Arctic warming and diminishing sea ice are influencing the atmosphere
The researchers of the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth system research at the University of Helsinki have investigated how atmospheric particles are formed in the Arctic. Until recent studies, the molecular processes of particle formation in the high Arctic remained a mystery.
During their expeditions to the Arctic, the scientists collected measurements for 12 months in total. The results of the extensive research project were recently published in Geophysical Research Letters.
The researchers discovered that atmospheric vapors, particles, and cloud formation have clear differences within various Arctic environments. The study clarifies how Arctic warming and sea ice loss strengthens processes where different vapors are emitted to the atmosphere. The thinning of sea ice enables more iodine emissions while broader open waters enable more emissions of sulfur-containing vapors.
Higher concentrations of vapors result in a higher amount of particles. This on the other hand will lead to more clouds, which can—depending on the season and location—either slow down or accelerate the Arctic warming. Detailed knowledge of these processes is crucial in order to understand the consequences of global warming.

Let us now travel to Hennepin County, Minnesota. Minneapolis…the life's blood of a significant portion of America's geography and industrial output. My family, in the ancient times, moved among the shakers and doers, dealing in considerable development of industrial production and huge efforts to produce millions of tonnes of wheat and other grains in what should have been nearly impossible weather characteristics. To be short, they were part of the Washburn - Christian Mills which over the years gradually became a company now known as General Mills.

My great-grandfather Peter Bonesteel Christian and my grandmother are interred in the aforementioned cemetery which to-day is essentially menaced by the despicable decay and social malaise that is the city of Minneapolis. The elder Christian was interred there in the late 1920s and his daughter (my grandmother) followed in the mid-1930s. I never had the chance to see or know them.
My father took his mother up to her family people in Minneapolis, riding in baggage all the way up, and in compartment back down…a matter of about one week, according to his remembrance. He was given an opulent apartment above a five car garage within the confines of a very large mansion and formal grounds. He met with none of his family, only servants, and a servant took him to the train when the time arrived to head back to southernmost Texas.
My soul suffers from knowing that good and great people managed to prosper and establish legacies in the area of Hennepin County, Minnesota and the entire State of Minnesota. Even though the family of my grandmother had little or no use for my father or anything associated with "…the people down there…", I can still lament that a fascinating and complex State in the American Union has been steadily reduced during the past three to five years to a declining, atrophying and increasingly pointless political subdivision.

Now comes this pitifully deranged child, Greta Thunberg, who has been foisted into the consciousness of the masses…with her soliloquy of absurdity that seems to come out with some form of socialist blather stating something like…"THIS TIME there really will be global warming and cooling, and floods and droughts, and everything; and you old geezers have forced us to suffer all the time and everything…and you geezers made it happen so as to kill all the children and right thinking people…and the proof is the fact that all of America was inundated once because all the water went away and now its coming back again and you old people killed everybody all the time."
It's almost enough for us to start up a full time broadside publication again, like the years past. Back then, of course, I had the OROGs who would forward ideas and commentary…OROG being an anagram for Order of Readers of the Old Gringo. My excesses are a form of sad humour, that essentially bilge out until the saloon closes, and the lights go out. Some of my grumpiness is due to the very recent loss of one of my three remaining "Best Buds". I shall be somewhat recovered in the coming days, and I appreciate the patience of our membership.
